Oh, Scrappy Day!

Well hello there! Long time no blog! (corny, I know... but hey, I'm tired!)

First, I suck at blogging. S-U-C-K. I never make time for it. (obviously, since my last real post was in October 2009! Ugh) I have to admit - I'm not a fan of blogging. I like looking at other people's blogs, but when it comes to sitting down and uploading pictures and writing and...ugh. It makes me cringe.

However, I am going to try harder to post more regularly this year. I can't promise pictures every time, but I WILL try to post more often in general.

Now that my rant is over, I want to tell you about my super scrappy day. :)

I took the day off today b/c I thought I maybe had strep. (negative - woo!) Since I had the day to myself, I decided I needed to finally get some projects done that I have been sitting on forever. I made two 6x6" baby albums (which I was commissioned to create a looong time ago - sorry, guys! They're finally done!), two coordinating gift cards, and I altered a lunch box tin and made it a recipe box. This is for a dear friend who I hope doesn't read this before I give it to her. The pictures aren't the greatest, but you get the idea.

Here is a pic of all of my accomplishments for the day. Hooray!

Here is the baby girl album. I didn't take shots of every page, but you get the idea.

Here is the baby boy album. Again, I didn't take pics of every page...

They're pretty simple, but I think it'll be fun to look through to see how much your child grows in that first year. I have made a few of these as gifts and they went over pretty well.

Lastly, here is the tin that I altered.

I got the tabbed dividers from Staples and just covered them with the coordinating papers. The clip holding the recipe cards in the last picture can also be used as a little recipe stand. I found the "recipe for friendship" thing online and thought it was cute.

That's it for today! Thanks for looking at my newest goodies. This blog may get more action from me if I include scrappy goodness, so don't be surprised to see more of this. I'll get some pics of the kids on here sometime soon too. Have a good night!

Halloween 2009

Here is Kate at her Kindergarten Fall Party. Notice her ferocious mad kitty face... :)

Here is Kate's Kindergarten class in their costumes. How cute are THEY!? I volunteered to help with the party and got to lead a craft. We made spooky picture frames. It was a lot of fun to meet all of her little friends!

We went to my parent's for Halloween weekend. What cute cats. :) We only trick or treated to a couple places, but they still got a TON of candy!!

Brian and I hadn't planned on going out Halloween night, so we didn't have costumes planned. We raided my parent's closets and this is what we came up with - - bikers. Once we got to the Belview bar and the BrauHaus in Lucan, we realized that we sort of just blended with the locals more than anything. Oops! Someone came up to Brian and said "Hey - I like your Jim Weidemann costume!" ha ha. We had fun singing karaoke and hanging out with Jon, Christi, Joe and Ashley.

I can't believe I haven't posted since Sept 3rd. I'm so terrible at this! I PROMISE to get some photos and stuff posted this week.

Sorry! Thanks for putting up with me! :)

Katy is growing up too fast...

We took Katy to her Kindergarten Open House yesterday. Wow. It still hasn't fully hit me that in 6 days, she will be getting on a bus and going to school...all by herself! I think it's going to be a lot harder on me than it is on her. She'll do great, though. She was really excited to see all the fun things in her classroom. She got to meet her new teacher, Mrs. Bauer, who seems to be just the sweetest lady ever. Kate was a little shy around her, but when we came back to the room for one last look before leaving, she had a chance to bond with the aide with a little conversation about their favorite animals.

After the open house, we went out for supper at Applebee's to celebrate my birthday! The kids were a little rambunctious, but we had a fun time anyway. Then we all went to Michael's and I got to look around as much as I wanted to with no complaints or comments from Brian whatsoever. What a great gift! Thanks, Honey. :) I got lots of fun stuff to add to my scrap collection. I can't wait to get it out and start using it!

Well, time to go finish getting ready for the day. (we start out a little late around here...which will have to change starting next week with Kate going to school! Yikes!) Hope everyone has a happy and safe Labor Day weekend!!!

{Lazy Saturday and the Indestructible Balloon}

We love lazy Saturdays. It's after 2:00 and we're all still in our PJs. :)

There were several balloons left over from Kate's birthday party, so we decided it would be fun to pop them. We thought it would be easy for Kate and Jack to just jump on them, but those darn things were virtually indestructible! I haven't laughed so much in a long time. It was hilarious watching them jump on them trying to get them to pop. They even had to pull out the "family sandwich", which sadly proved to be an unsuccessful technique.

{pictures that make me smile}

These are just a few recent pictures of the kids that make me smile. As much as they make me crazy sometimes, they are pretty darn great.

The kids and I went to the park the other day for a picnic. It was gorgeous out! They had fun playing on the playground while I caught up on some reading.

Jack working on puzzles...with a mess face, as usual.

Kate taking a nap on the couch with her new best friend, Baby Cheetah. This was a birthday gift from Grandma and Boppa Weidemann and it goes EVERYWHERE with her!

Jack was being silly and playing peek a boo with me. (yeah, I realize the door is see through...it was still funny, though!) :)
