{Lazy Saturday and the Indestructible Balloon}

We love lazy Saturdays. It's after 2:00 and we're all still in our PJs. :)

There were several balloons left over from Kate's birthday party, so we decided it would be fun to pop them. We thought it would be easy for Kate and Jack to just jump on them, but those darn things were virtually indestructible! I haven't laughed so much in a long time. It was hilarious watching them jump on them trying to get them to pop. They even had to pull out the "family sandwich", which sadly proved to be an unsuccessful technique.

{pictures that make me smile}

These are just a few recent pictures of the kids that make me smile. As much as they make me crazy sometimes, they are pretty darn great.

The kids and I went to the park the other day for a picnic. It was gorgeous out! They had fun playing on the playground while I caught up on some reading.

Jack working on puzzles...with a mess face, as usual.

Kate taking a nap on the couch with her new best friend, Baby Cheetah. This was a birthday gift from Grandma and Boppa Weidemann and it goes EVERYWHERE with her!

Jack was being silly and playing peek a boo with me. (yeah, I realize the door is see through...it was still funny, though!) :)

Jack + orange pop = mess

We had those little orange cans of pop at Kate's birthday party. Since it was a special occasion, we agreed to let Jack try a can. He hid in the corner behind the fence drinking the whole thing, then showed up with the most hilarious orange mustache. He even had a little soul patch going on! This kid is too funny.

Then, after thoroughly soaking the front of his shirt with orange pop, he proceeded to take a seat right on my chives. Little punk.... but it's hard to be mad at someone when they're this darn cute! Just look at that little expression...you KNOW the wheels are turning! (side note: I DID get his shirt clean - -not sure how, but it all came out!) :)

Kate's Birthday Party

A little late, but here are some pictures from Kate's birthday party. I STILL can't believe my baby girl is five!!

Kate was NOT very excited to have everyone staring at her while also singing happy birthday. I thought this was a pretty funny picture of her shy, yet annoyed face. :)

Kate opening her presents...

Brian arranged some games for the kids. This is Kate and Luke trying to play the cotton ball on the spoon relay. Neither of them could get it to stay on the spoon and they couldn't stop laughing. It was so cute.

Here's Kate trying out her new T-ball set that Grandma and Grandpa Surine gave her. She's a natural. :)

Katy is FIVE!

I can't believe it. My little girl turned 5 yesterday. She has grown up so much lately. She starts Kindergarten in less than a month! AHHH!

We had a pretty low-key birthday yesterday. I took the kids with me to Party City to get supplies for the big party on Sunday. Kate had fun helping me pick out prizes for games and decorations for the house/garage. Then we made rice krispie treats with chocolate chips in the middle. The kids loved helping! For snack time we made our own lunchables, then had the rice krispie treats for dessert. :) The kids also helped punch out shapes and make kits for our craft project we have planned for the party. We had Little Ceasars pizza and breadsticks for supper. Yum. Katy opened a present from "Great Janet" (Great Aunt Janet), which she LOVED. She got this awesome coloring/activity book with all wild animal stuff inside and a cool pink cape to wear! So cute. We're saving the rest of the gifts for Sunday so she has lots to open all at once. Fun!

Today we're going to meet Brian at Chipotle for lunch and then it's back to cleaning and getting ready for the party. (my place has never looked so good - I love it!) I'll post pics next week after the party.
